As a single, homeschooling mom you better believe I have to watch my budget carefully. However, that doesn’t mean I have to skimp on feeding my family well.
Through the years, I’ve always loved creating weekly menus. I find that having one and creating my shopping list from it saves me time and money.
This year, I added something new to my meal planning.
Online shopping!
I LOVE shopping for my groceries online and just picking them up. It saves me a whole lot of time! And it saves me money because I add items to my cart based on my weekly menu. There’s no danger of impulse shopping and when I hit “Checkout,” I know exactly what I’m spending. I can keep the total within my budget.
I had started shopping online for groceries weeks before the quarantine. I believe God was preparing me for what was coming. He knows I don’t take change well! It’s just one of the many ways He has taken care of us throughout these last few months.
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6:25-26
I have created a Healthy Budget Menu that you can download FREE. It’s healthy for your budget and includes meals that are healthy for your family.
This Healthy Budget Menu is a weekly dinner menu. It doesn’t include lunch. Since we homeschool and are home at lunch (like all kids right now), we usually have leftovers, sandwiches, etc. It should cost about $100 for the menu items (depending on what’s already in your pantry) and that is for mostly organic, natural, and healthy choices. This menu is designed for a family of four (or three like us!)
