Sunday School Lesson – Achan Sinned

Posted on March 3, 2013 by kathyahutto

Our church is using the Gospel Project curriculum from Lifeway for Sunday School in our Children’s Department.

I found a really neat object talk to use for the week entitled, Achan Sinned.

The link is below.  Basically, you make a sandwich with moldy bread (put a little bit of green food coloring on the bread in advance).  Ask, You wouldn’t eat the sandwich with even a little bit of mold, would you?  In the same way, even a little bit of sin will keep you from Heaven.  The Bible says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23, NASB)

Achan sinned by taking a few items during the conquest of Jericho after God had specifically told the people not to.  He was punished by death.

We all sin.  The punishment of sin for us is death too, but the good news is that Jesus died on the cross to take our punishment for sin.”  John 3:16 says, “”For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  (NIV)
