I just got home from seeing Sound of Freedom. Writing is what I do, so it is what I feel I can do in order to do something!
The movie was well done. It was actor driven and the actors were excellent. Jim Caviezel throws his whole self into his roles and you can tell. I heard him in an interview comment that it took a couple of years to come down from making this movie. After seeing it, I understand.
My take away?
I entered the theater commenting that I needed my box of Kleenex. I knew it would be tough to watch, but I wanted to support the film and the cause with my attendance. As expected, it was sad and there were parts I had a hard time watching.
However, I exited the theater with dry eyes and jaw clinched because I found another emotion had overtaken the sadness.
Anger.
I could not fathom the United States is the #1 consumer of child sex.
This is happening on our turf; not in Columbia, Honduras, or some other remote place in the world. The number one spot goes to America.
What I saw in the movie was a glimpse into how deep the depth of darkness and depravity man can fall.
Such darkness must be expelled and the only thing that expels darkness is – Light.
Amidst following the call to action at the end of the film; asking others to come and see, may we walk away with a resolve to spread the Light of Jesus to all those we encounter because you never know if one of those encounters is a consumer. The odds are high.
May the eyes of those consumers be opened to His truth and set free from such horrendous evil.
May the Lord protect the children and raise up more warriors to rescue them!
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5
