Description
Not all children learn the same way, and over my 18 years of teaching, I’ve observed two basic learning styles often referred to as Left Brain and Right Brain Learning. Left Brain learners excel at memorizing facts and thrive on straightforward methods like black-and-white sheets and simple repetition. In contrast, Right Brain learners struggle with these techniques; despite their efforts, they often find it challenging to grasp concepts using traditional approaches. For them, incorporating colors, stories, and emotions into the learning process significantly enhances their retention.
Dianne Craft from Child Diagnostics notes that “right brainers learn anything easier when emotion, color, or stories are added to the learning method.” Inspired by this research, I developed specialized flashcards when homeschooling my children. I have seen firsthand how these strategies have not only transformed confidence in learning but also improved retention of math skills.
This resource specifically focuses on mathematical number values and strategies for addition and multiplication, making the learning experience both engaging and effective.
