Sunday school – God Delivered His People
In advance – post a large heart cut out with paper crown on top corner
The Israelites has been taken captive to Babylon due to their sin. God had promised they could return after 70 years. The end of that time had come.
After God’s hand wrote on the wall that He was bringing the kingdom of Babylon to an end, two kingdoms divided Babylon. One of the kingdoms was Persia, ruled by King Cyrus.
God moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to let the people go back home.
The King and the people around them gave them… (Act this out with a real suitcase by packing these things.)
silver (forks and spoons)
gold (plastic gold coins)
animals (stuffed animals)
Bowls and basins and cups (paper or plastic bowls and cups)
They got to go home as God promised – and even got to take many things back with them. God always does what He says!
Song: (Tune: Bingo)*
“I can trust the Lord, my God, each and every day.
Morning, noon, and night.
Morning, noon, and night.
Morning, noon, and night.
Yes, I can trust the Lord.”
*The song came from Lifeway’s Gospel Project Curriculum
