This phonics and reading class stands out for its innovative approach to learning. Each vowel and grapheme, which represents a special reading rule, is complemented by a visual aid—a picture clue that cleverly incorporates the specific letter or letters responsible for producing each sound. For instance, a picture featuring a pirate creatively integrates the letters 'ar' to help children remember that 'ar' makes the /ar/ sound, evoking the connection between the letters and the sound they represent in a memorable and engaging way.
Pre-requisite: Before beginning this class, students should have knowledge of letters and sounds. If not, you may choose my Phonics First Basic Letter Sounds class first.
A notes from the Teacher:
Dear Parent(s),
Thank you for considering this Phonics First Aid Class. I firmly believe, and the research shows, that phonics instruction is the very best way to teach children how to read. Building a solid foundation will insure children do not have holes left and don’t advance in grade level while leaving their reading level behind.
This class was created after over twenty years of teaching children to read. It works, and I hope that it will be a blessing to your child.
Happy Reading,
Kathy Hutto
