The idea of Toddler Bites came to me after birthing what has to be the pickiest eater in the whole world. He never liked those store bought baby foods in the jar, but at the baby stage it was easier to get him to comply. However, when those toddler years and age of self-feeding came along, forget about mommy winning the battle of the wills when it came to green peas. I soon realized that my busy two-year old toddler was a “grazer.” He was a snatch and go type eater. Sure I made him sit in submission in the high chair until our dinner was finished, but ultimately I finally decided that most meals were much more pleasant if we let him do drive by’s for his food. I put out a tray of bite-sized foods and he would return over and over until the tray was emptied. I knew he had the nutrition he needed and I was happy with that. (Eight years later I still haven’t won the green pea battle!)
Well at this stage all I had was a great idea. God had planted that seed into my mind. Later that idea would resurface during the time when I began to pray long and hard for a way to answer God’s will for my life by home schooling my children. A one-time elementary school teacher, I had been working various part time jobs to make ends meet since the birth of our two children. It seemed that financially it was impossible for me to just quit working altogether. But I knew that nothing is impossible for God. I posted the verse Matthew 21:21-22, all over the house…on my bathroom mirror, my computer, refrigerator, and in my car. I just kept praying that the Lord would move the mountain of debt. God brought the idea of Toddler Bites back to my mind in a persistent way. I committed it to prayer. When my husband also felt the call to pursue this venture, I knew that my answer to prayer had come. We stepped out on faith. Over the next year, I worked on the many facets undertaking a project like this involves. Finally, we were ready to launch the product. Years of prayer and work had finally paid off. I pray that the Lord be glorified in this endeavor. By stepping out on faith and being obedient to His will, He provided a way for me to home school my children.
Matthew 21:21-22
So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to this fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” it will be done. “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
