In His Presence Devotional – Manna not T-Bones
I hope you are enjoying your time In His Presence. During one of my recent times, the Lord reminded me that He provided the Israelites with manna, not T-Bones. And what was the result? They complained. (Numbers 11:1, 4, 6)
I have been guilty of the same thing! And I had to repent. It’s easy to look around and see what we don’t have and forget to be grateful for what we do have. God has provided my daily bread every single day. My family may not eat filet mignon, but we have never gone hungry. My van may be old, but it is still running. Many of my clothes are hand-me-downs, but I’m clothed. And on and on…
The reason the Israelites had manna and not T-Bones can be found in the Bible. And I think it may be the very same reason He holds back some of His blessing in our lives at times.
Deuteronomy 8:3, And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
And look what happened when God had gotten them to the place He wanted them (spiritually).
Joshua 5:12, And the manna ceased the day after they ate of the produce of the land. And there was no longer manna for the people of Israel, but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.
I’d rather wait for the Promised Land and let God grow me, than have the world’s riches. How about you?
