Good Morning Girls,
We are halfway through this week and this Bible study!! The scripture this week is all about LOVE. It starts off on Day 1, talking about how the world will hate righteousness and gave the example of Cain and Abel. Day 2, I jotted down: “the world hates Christians…fruit of a Christian is our love….murderer is used in conjunction with hate…we need to love and show it.” Day 3, I jotted down: “love in deed and truth.” I love in verse 16 where he gives us an example of how God modeled the love we are to have when he laid down His life for us. He’s our Father and modeling what love should look like, just as we as parents should model this type love for our children.
The kids and I are doing a study on the Fruits of the Spirit during our morning devotions and we are on LOVE. We looked up lots of verses yesterday regarding love and here’s one that really struck me that goes along with our Bible Study. It’s from 1 Corinthians 13 (surprise!), but it’s verses 1-3 that really struck me.
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (love), I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my good to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.”
All the world hears is just “noise” when we witness to them without love. We clanged two pot lids together to drive this point home (I don’t recommend it unless you have Advil ready.)
Love,
Kathy:)
