For the kids’ morning devotional time today, I read Galatians 5:22-26. We will begin working on the Fruits of the Spirit over the next week or two. I printed off the Fruits of the Spirit tree coloring page from the following link. We read through all of the Fruits of the Spirit on the sheet. We discussed how we know an apple tree is an apple tree because it bears apples. People will know we are Christians by the fruit we bear.

Today we focused on Gentleness. I read Philippians 4:5, “Let your gentle spirit be known to all men.” We listed examples of ways that we can show gentleness. I gave each child an uncooked egg and let him use a Sharpie to draw on a face. I challenged the kids to try to show gentleness to their egg. At the end of the day we will come back together and see whose egg is still “alive.” As they care for their egg today, I told them to remember to show gentleness to everyone. I asked them to help me spot when someone demonstrates gentleness today.
