Dear friends,
If you haven’t yet written any New Year’s resolutions, I have two suggestions that are a must! I have told my children that there are two things that I hope they learn from me above all else – to read the
Bible and pray daily. Our preacher made a great point Sunday. He said that the Israelites could not eat stale manna. We, too, cannot rely upon past Bible knowledge. The Bible is alive and we need to
read it every day because it’s one of the tools God uses to speak to us.
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as
far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts
and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12, NASB
I’ve heard the Biblical version of the Christmas story probably every single year I’ve been alive and yet reading it again this year, God spoke to me in a fresh way. For example, the word, “haste,” just stood out to me. The shepherds hurried to tell others about Jesus, and I was convicted about how often I
don’t even snail crawl to spread the good news.
There’s Just No Substitute for the Bible and Prayer. Period.
I love devotions and read one every morning, but there’s just no substitute for God’s Word. I want to encourage you to begin this year making time in His Presence a priority.
Love,
Kathy
