The study of Ruth is one of my favorites in my series of Bible Studies for Preteens. You can see all of the studies by looking under the SHOP & FREE heading on this website.
With the study of Ruth, in just two weeks your daughter or grand-daughter will have read through the entire book of Ruth! With only four chapters, it’s a perfect first Bible Study.
Each page includes word checks with definitions to aid in understanding. There are relevant and thoughtful questions throughout. The chapters are divided into manageable and content appropriate chunks.
In addition, there is a keepsake box option she can make during the study. All you need is an empty cereal box! I’ve put a FREE printable cover for you to download below. Simply print and tape or glue to the side of the box.
Below is a list of items that you add to the box. The item relates to the story of Ruth. You could use the items/box for telling the story of Ruth if you are a Sunday School teacher or children’s Bible Study leader.
1 –toy food (an earlier famine was the reason Naomi and her husband had moved from Bethlehem to Moab)
2 – a map (Naomi and Ruth sojourned or took a trip)
3 – piece of barley or grain (check your local department store’s floral department)
4 – a rag (to represent Ruth wiping the sweat from her forehead as she rested a little in the house)
5 – a feather (God is compared to a bird protecting us under His wings)
6 – a baggie with flour in it (Ruth beat out the barley and used it to make flour)
7 – a piece of cloth (to represent the blanket covering Boaz)
8 – doll sandal (giving ones sandal to another signified an agreement or deal)
9 – a tiny baby doll or other baby toy (Boaz and Ruth had a baby boy)
10 – a leaf (to represent a family tree)

Hello. Is the Ruth book a good study for boys and girls? My daughters are 13 and my son is 11.
Yes, I think your son would enjoy it too. I would recommend the David one for him, since it has lots of adventure! It even tells where to find in the Bible what happened to Goliath’s sword! I think the girls will breeze through this study since they are 13, but that’s okay! They will have read through the book of Ruth! And I think they will enjoy making the Keepsake box. 🙂
