A Prayer for the National Day of Prayer 2017
PRAISE
Blessed is the Lord God. Holy is Your name. You have shown mercy to those who fear You. From generation to generation, You have shown strength with Your arm. (Luke 1:49-51) You have always done exactly what You have promised. You have given knowledge of salvation by the remission of our sins through Your tender mercies. You have given light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. (Luke 1:68,77-79)
SHIELD OF FAITH
May we have the shield of faith, which is trust in You. It’s this trust that will allow us to withstand the enemy’s lies and temptations. (Ephesians 6:16) Help us to stand.
COURAGE
When Your body was buried, the Bible says Joseph “coming and taking courage” went to Pilate and asked to bury it. The times we live in require courage. Please give us the knowledge of what You need us to do. Make clear to each of us our purpose for each day. And then grant us great courage to carry it out.
BOLDNESS
Grant us boldness so that when facing threats, we may continue to speak your Word with boldness, while you stretch out Your hand to heal. (Acts 4:29)
TRUTH
Dear God, Sanctify us by Your truth; Your word is truth. (John 17:17) May we be set apart for Your purposes alone. Help us love what You love and hate what You hate. Call us to read our Bibles every day and saturate our minds with truth, which is sufficient for every part of our everyday living.
PRAYER
Dear, God, remind us to pray every day. May we not be entertained by earthly pleasures which cannot compare to being awed in Your presence. May our churches be houses of prayer for all the nations. (Mark 11:17)
