I mentioned in my Youtube video today that I would post a prayer strategy based on 2 Chronicles 20.

Prayer When Being Attacked by the Enemy
Prayer When Being Attacked by the Enemy
Based on Jehoshaphat’s prayer in 2 Chronicles 20
SEEK THE LORD (2 Chronicles 20:3)
I am coming to You in prayer, seeking You. Jeremiah 29:13, says, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Create in me and each of my family members a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. (Psalm 51:10) I confess to you my sins (list any sin that the Holy Spirit brings to mind.) Jesus, You said, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” (John 14:23)
FAST – if the battle rising against your family is intense, you should fast (2 Chronicles 20:4)
ACKNOWLEDGE GOD (2 Chronicles 20:6)
“O Lord, God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. In your hand are power and might, so that none is able to withstand you.” (2 Chronicles 20:6)
(List any things God has already done in your family.)
BATTLE CRY (2 Chronicles 20:12)
Dear God, a battle rages against our family. We have no power against it, nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You. (2 Chronicles 20:12)
LISTEN (2 Chronicles 20:13)
We stand before You now. We are listening for direction from You. (2 Chronicles 20:13)
(Take some time to listen to any clear directions the Lord tells you. This may not come the first time you pray or even soon after. Be persistent in prayer and keep listening. God will let you know if there’s something He wants you to do to participate in His answer. Pray for God to help you discern His voice and to test everything and hold fast to what is good. (1 Thes. 5:21) God usually repeats His directives. Throw up a red flag if you feel an urgency to do or say something “right now!” That’s a tactic the enemy uses. Instead, stop and pray and keep listening to be sure. If it was from God, you will continue to feel that way later. The feeling will not go away. It will be different from what you normally feel “in the flesh.” Have trusted friends pray for you regarding this. Be careful that you don’t take their advice as from the Lord. If there is a wise person that you have built a history of prayer with, listen but always take it back to God. When you have a peace that this is what God is telling you to do, act in obedience; even if you are fearful and even if you don’t understand. He sees what we can’t see. He knows what He’s doing. His ways are not our ways. His ways are higher than ours. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
“Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” (2 Chronicles 20:15)
PRAISE (2 Chronicles 20:21)
“Praise the Lord for His mercy endures forever.” (2 Chronicles 20:21)
(Sing songs of praise or have praise music playing in your home.)
“Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.” (2 Chronicles 20:22)
STAND AND SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD (2 Chronicles 20:17)
We position ourselves in faith. We stand expectant believing we will see the salvation of the Lord. We will not fear or be dismayed for the Lord is with us. (2 Chronicles 20:17)
Declare these things to the Lord.
Dear God, You are…
ALL-POWERFUL. Enable me to stand firm with the belt of truth buckled around my waist and with the breastplate of righteousness in place. (Ephesians 6:14)
STRONG. “Who is the King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle!” (Psalm 24:8)
OVERCOMER. “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But, take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
ABLE. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20)
MIGHTY. “The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)
VICTOR. “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all.” 1 Chronicles 29:11
