When I was a little girl, my parents would gather us three girls and read from a devotional book each night. We were “that” family that had to turn off Saturday morning cartoons to listen to Uncle Charlie, a Christian program from Keys for Kids, on the radio. In those days, Saturday morning was the only time cartoons came on, except for an episode of Tom and Jerry after school on weekdays. Back then, gathering to sit still for a story or radio program didn’t seem like much fun. But today, they are some of the childhood memories I treasure most. They help me remember how important it is to be intentional about training up my children in the way they should go. (Proverbs 22:6)
I carried on the tradition of nightly devotion time with my children. When they were younger, I read from a book much like the one my parents used. Later, I created my own, which you can see here.
Today, they are teenagers. Thankfully, there are still resources available that I can use in this season.
Recently, I sat down to talk about what we do for family devotion/worship time each night.
