I’ve tried for many years to make biscuits, but never seemed to have any luck! Until I found this super simple recipe. I cook sausage in the skillet and scramble eggs to go along with these. On Sundays, we usually have sausage, egg and cheese biscuits for breakfast before live streaming our church service.
I also like to make homemade jam by simply coarsely blending strawberries in my blender. Transfer this to a small saucepan with a little sugar. Let this mixture boil, stirring continually until it thickens. It should stick to the spoon verses slide off easily. This jam is great on the biscuits!
The next morning, I split leftover biscuits and top with sharp cheddar cheese and put in the toaster for cheese biscuit “toast.”
So Simple Biscuits
Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour – divided
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 Tbs baking powder
1 stick of butter – grated into the flour mixture
3/4 cup milk
Directions:Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Add 1 cup flour, baking powder, salt and sugar to a large bowl. Grate in the butter, stirring to evenly distribute. Tip: Make sure the butter is cold.
Add the milk and stir.
Add the remaining 1 cup flour and stir to form a ball.
Add flour to your cutting board and turn out the dough. Fold it over itself about five times. Sprinkle with more flour if it’s super sticky.
Smooth out with your hands until it’s about 3/4 to 1 inch think. Cut with the rim of a mason jar lid. Or use a smaller circular object for smaller biscuits.
Bake at 425 for about 12 minutes (maybe less if your biscuits are smaller. I make mine smaller to fit the Jimmy Dean sausages a little better.)
