I did it. I went there. For just a few minutes I was back there…a brief flashback, as the memory reel of the past eight years played in my mind. And then a flood of tears and gratefulness. I could see God all along. He was guiding my steps while always holding my hand. I stopped and squeezed my hand and I imagined His firm grip on it. I let Him know I love Him so.
–An excerpt from my journal
If you haven’t tried journaling, you should. It’s a place to record thoughts, observations from Scripture, inspiration from others…
I’ve always journaled. Well, at least since I was 13 and read the book, Memo to Myself when I have a Teenage Kid. From that moment on, I’ve kept a journal. At first, it was a small cloth covered one. Then, one of those with the tiny lock. Later, I used composition books. Lately, I use the one I created.
I don’t usually write day to day happenings like when I was younger. Mostly, I record notes when I’m studying my Bible. But, I treasure all my journals. My most recent ones are stored in an old milk crate.
I can look back and see how God has been with me and they serve as memorial stones reminding me of God’s goodness.
