Marriage is for life. Scripture teaches that.
Marriage season is upon us and I would advise those about to enter into marriage to do so standing on this truth – no matter what.
We are imperfect people. We change. Society changes.
Scripture is our standard. The standard does not change.
It’s a fallacy to think otherwise.
So, what are you to do if you’re in a miserable marriage – miserable for any of many reasons?
The answer…
Read your Bible and pray every day.
You will begin to see things differently. God will teach you things and grow you. It will be remarkable. You’ll be able to forgive. You’ll be able to pray for the other person and watch to see God work – even if it takes a looong time. He will give you the grace to keep going one day at a time (or even one moment at a time, if that’s where you are.)
This is a very personal thing. I can share with you what will happen when you do, but that won’t make it happen for you. You’ve got to read your Bible and pray and get in relationship with God for yourself.
But, here ARE the things that WILL happen…
- He will grow you to a place where you can put others before yourself.
- He will give you the grace to continue in your marriage.
- He will help you see His unconditional love and allow you to feel that love for others.
- He will bless your obedience – even if you’re the only one obeying.
Let’s take marriage from the sifting sand society’s placed it on and set it back on solid rock.
